Forest of Cantillana Biosfera Reserve

We invite you to explore the wonderful native green-wooded slopes at one of the highest summits in the Chilean Coast mountains. We will cross this mountain ridge, moving through a variety of micro-climates: from steppe in the highlands to the lush wet forest including tree species such as Chilean Oak and Peumo. In this adventure you will experience a variety of climates as if you were at several different latitudes. Waiting for us at the big flat summit, will be a scene of ancient and wonderful Oaks, including the steppe and the forest that originated since the last glaciation. In the fall season, we will find a red forest of Oaks. From the Summit on a pretty clear day, to the west, you will likely see the sun hiding in the ocean. And to the east, you may see the sunset over the pink Andes glaciers at 20,000 feet altitude and other amazing views of giant peaks, including Mount Aconcagua (the highest in America). Spectacular views of the native wooded forest and some of the best views of the Central Andes await you!
