We invite you to explore one of the largest glaciers of the Central Andes. Juncal is one of the few glaciers in the world that is in expansión. An odd case in the southern hemisphere, given that it faces north (the hottest face in the southern hemisphere). Juncal attracts many glaciologists from around the world who come here to study the glacier.

Lenght base to glacier: 5 miles
Steep average: 9,8 - 5,5%
Slope: 1968 feets
Base Altitude: 8.200 feets
Max Altitude: 9500 feets
Most of the trek is along a soft-sloped path with amazing views of Mt. Alto Los Leones (The High Lions), including rock walls of more than 3,000 vertical feet. Many mountaineers have often compared it to the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
We will cross a few streams and experience breathtaking landscapes. Near the glacier we will be amazed by the magic green wetlands sitting under a dark blue sky and ice summits of almost 20,000 feet.
The ice of the glacier falls down from the gigantic summits, into the flat of the valley, appearing like a huge tongue of ice. We will experience the magic of walking over millenial ice and drink ancient wáter that is thousands of years old.
